Answer: Sweet Tooth Cakes & Pastries, a family owned and operated bakery and pastry shop since June 1996, is dedicated to providing our customers with quality gourmet specialty cakes and pastry products. The owners and staff are professional, dedicated, and competent pastry chefs and cake artists having over 75 years combined of cake decorating and artistry experience.

Answer: Stephen Thomas has worked as a pastry chef for many upscale hotels in the Washington D.C. area. In 1996 Stephen and brother Ricardo opened their first shop. They have done over 1000 wedding cakes since they first opened their shop and have received numerous compliments and had a write up in the washington post.

Product Information

Answer: Most, but not all, of our cakes can be decorated. Some cakes will not hold elaborate decorations because of the texture of the icing. For decorating ideas, please view our Gallery.

Answer: Yes, cakes and cupcakes can be decorated with edible images, inscriptions and themed sugar decons. The image is edible ink printed on top of rice paper that adheres to the icing and inscriptions are in buttercream. Answer: We do recommend storing products in the refrigerator and removing approximately 10 minutes before serving time.

Answer: We use a variety of premium ingredients in our cupcakes and icings, including milk, cream, butter, eggs, sugar and flour. Our cupcakes do not contain any preservatives or trans fats in either the cake or icing. Currently, we do not have any other nutritional information available for review.

Answer: Sweet Tooth does offer dairy-free, egg-free, and nut-free products, many of which are part of our vegan product line. We also take all necessary steps to prevent cross-contamination.
Answer: There are a select few items that we may be able to make that are gluten-free. However, for those with more severe gluten sensitivity/allergy, cross-contamination in the kitchen is possible.

Answer: Sweet Tooth Cakes & Pastries creates beautiful dessert tables and cupcake tree displays for all types of celebrations, from weddings and graduations to birthdays and corporate events. We offer drop-off catering services. We also offer cupcake decorating and icing demonstration tables to delight and entertain your guests.

Answer: Yes, in addition to beautiful tiered wedding cakes, we offer deconstructed wedding cakes, dessert tables and cupcake tree displays. We work closely with each couple and offer a dynamic selection of options they can mix and match to create the perfect look for a stunning and delicious dessert spread. Answer: No. At this time, Sweet Tooth Cakes & Pastries is not able to host any catered events.

Advanced Orders

Answer: For advance orders from our everyday menu, you can order by using our new online menu app.  For advanced orders for catering or gourmet cakes, please visit our Catering Page or the Cake Gallery  to select from the available inspirations or customize your own order. PLEASE DO NOT send your order by email. Unfortunately, emailed orders will not be honored.

Answer: We recommend that you call the bakery to place your order at least 48 hours in advance. We can usually accommodate most orders, however, the more notice you give us the more likely we will be able to fulfill your order.

Answer: Yes, we offer delivery service for catering orders of 20 people or greater.

Answer: Because of our small batch size, we ask that specialty flavors be ordered in quantities of one dozen or more.

Online Orders

Answer: Yes! We ship via FedEx within the United States through our website online store. International orders for Sweet Tooth Cakes & Pastries merchandise can also be placed through our website. Unfortunately, we are unable to ship baked goods outside of the United States due to customs restrictions.

Answer: Yes, if you have a Sweet Tooth Cakes & Pastries gift card and want to use it for an online purchase, please call (301) 808-7727. Our customer service representative will convert the amount on your physical gift card to an eGift Certificate that can easily be used on our website. The amount will immediately be deducted from your gift card and the credit will only be good for purchases made on our online store.

Answer: Orders through our online menu app can be placed up to one month in advance on most occasions. Simply select your preferred delivery date from our online ordering system in your shopping bag.

Answer: Sorry, at this time we do not allow substitutions to our product assortments, and only offer items to be shipped as they are listed. Check back frequently for new flavors, seasonal and holiday specialty items, and baker’s choice selections.

Answer: For real time rates provided by FedEx, place an item in your shopping bag at our online store and then shipping will be determined by checkout.

Answer: At Sweet Tooth Cakes & Pastries, everything is made fresh from scratch using the finest ingredients. Since we bake to order, we cannot ship same day. All orders placed before 2:00 PM EST will be processed the next day to ship the following business day.

Answer: We are sorry we are unable to specify an exact delivery time. Use your tracking number to track the status of your package on Deliveries typically occur during normal business hours and depend on the service selected. Your tracking number may not appear in the FedEx tracking system for 24 hours. Please be patient. You will be able to see it flow through the FedEx system and know the exact day it will arrive.

Answer: While Sweet Tooth Cakes & Pastries does not require a signature for your delivery, we can only guarantee the quality of our product if it is received by the shipping time selected by the customer at the time of purchase. According to FedEx policy, their drivers will only leave the package at a recipient’s door, or other secure location, if the driver believes it is ‘safe’ and reasonable to do so. For this reason, it is also necessary for customers to notify a gift recipient of their sweet surprise before the date of delivery.
